People travel to the American Royal from every state. BBQ teams come from around the globe.

Description

The Livestock Show Event Intern-Market Week will assist the Livestock Event Manager and livestock team, in execution of the 126th American Royal Livestock Show. This unique internship will give a behind the scenes look of putting on a national livestock show. It is requested that interns be present for Week 2 of the Livestock Show.

Dates Desired: October 13th -18th


2025 American Royal Media Intern

Position: American Royal Media Intern

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

Dates:

  • Livestock Week 1: October 10-12, 2025

  • Livestock Week 2: October 15-18, 2025

  • Livestock Week 3: October 22-26, 2025

  • World Series of Barbecue®: November 7-9, 2025


The American Royal is seeking six talented individuals to assist with media coverage at the 126th American Royal Livestock Show and one talented individual to assist with media coverage during the World’s Series of Barbecue®. We will be selecting two candidates to help with each week of the show and one candidate for the Barbecue. Please include what week/event you would like to be considered for in your cover letter. Travel will not be reimbursed, and the American Royal will be responsible for lodging only. This educational experience pays a $500 stipend.


Eligibility:

  • An agriculture degree program is preferred but not required

  • Applicants applying for the Livestock Media Internship must be comfortable around livestock

  • Applicants should possess excellent communications skills and a strong work ethic

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud a plus


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the American Royal Communications team with media coverage

  • Create and post social media content on proper channels

  • Capture pictures before, during, and after the event

  • Highlight important stories that showcase our mission

  • Capture video content through contestant interviews, performances, etc.
