Youth Programs Coordinator - Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association (TCA)

Position Overview:

The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing, promoting, and managing youth initiatives, communications, and outreach efforts on behalf of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association (TCA). This role plays a vital part in growing the next generation of cattle industry leaders by creating engaging programs, building partnerships, and strengthening connections between youth, producers, and industry stakeholders. The role is responsible for managing the youth programs budget and securing sponsorship dollars to support programs.


Job Responsibilities:


Youth Program Leadership

  • Manage and grow TCA youth programs, including Tennessee’s Top Tier, Young Cattlemen’s Leadership Program, and Youth Beef Industry Tour.

  • Plan and execute major youth events such as the TCA Youth Awards Banquet.

  • Oversee youth award programs, including application promotion, submission management, and selection processes.

  • Lead a six-member youth committee and maintain regular communication with the producer-led board of directors.


Outreach & Communications

  • Produce engaging social media content (videos, reels, graphics) to increase membership growth and visibility.

  • Send regular youth program email updates to 400+ members, parents, and supporters.

  • Write feature stories, articles, and provide visuals for the Tennessee Cattle Business magazine.

  • Represent TCA youth at industry events, field days, trade shows, and legislative meetings.


Relationship Building

  • Cultivate partnerships with FFA, 4-H, county cattlemen’s associations, sponsors, and industry stakeholders.

  • Build trust with producers and members by incorporating their input into program decisions and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and other organizations to advance communication and outreach initiatives.


Event & Membership Support

  • Assist in planning the TCA Annual Convention and Trade Show, managing registration, marketing, and logistics.

  • Partner with TCA staff on youth membership growth through event planning, drives, and promotional partnerships.


Financial Management & Sponsorships

  • Manage a $100,000 annual budget for youth programming.

  • Secure $55,000+ in sponsorships annually through industry partnerships and fundraising efforts.


Community Engagement

  • Lead outreach initiatives such as the Second Harvest Initiative, which donates thousands of lbs. of beef to food banks.

  • Partner with the Tennessee Beef Industry Council and other groups to deliver consumer education events, including beef education programs for urban students.


Qualifications


Educational and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Communications, Marketing, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in program management, youth development, communications, or nonprofit leadership.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage awards, applications, and selection processes efficiently.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a committee or volunteer group.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.

  • Experience in budget management, including the ability to manage and track an annual budget
