Spring and Summer 2026 Communications Internship - National Pork Producers Council (NPPC)

Overview:

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) serves as the global voice for the U.S. pork industry, advocating on behalf of 60,000 American pork producers. NPPC engages with legislators, regulators, and industry partners to support policies that promote the social, environmental, and economic sustainability of U.S. pork producers while expanding access to global markets.

 

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of public policy, advocacy, and communication strategies. The selected intern will work with NPPC’s marketing and communications team to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including producers, government officials, and industry partners. You will gain practical experience in media relations, digital content creation, website management, and supporting advocacy events.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Creating and publishing content across social, web, and email platforms

  • Translating policy issues into clear messaging for producers, media, and stakeholders

  • Supporting national campaigns and major NPPC events (with travel to Washington, D.C.)

  • Building skills in brand management, media relations, and stakeholder engagement

  • Assist with digital content creation (social media, web, and email platforms)

  • Expanding your professional portfolio and industry network

  • Complete other communications-related tasks assigned

 

Internship Timing and Location:

  • Spring 2026: Part-time, January–May, primarily remote with the option for in-office hours in Urbandale, IA, if location and schedule allows

  • Summer 2026: Full-time, May–August, based in Urbandale, IA, with hybrid flexibility

Interview Timeline:

Selected candidates will be contacted by Denise Veldhuizen, Assistant Vice President of Operations and Human Resources, and Mikayla Dolch, Manager of Marketing and Digital Communications. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of November 10.
