Position: Cattle Industry Convention Intern
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Time Period: February 2, 2025 – February 7, 2025
Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show interns are vital to the success of the largest annual meeting in the U.S. beef cattle industry. Our intern positions provide a unique opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience and to interact with leaders from every segment of the cattle and beef industry.

Intern General Responsibilities:
Students will be assigned to help NCBA staff members with a variety of meetings and events at the convention and trade show. Responsibilities may include:
Setting up, taking down and working the Demo Arena, overseeing committee meeting sign-in, working the NCBA booth, support speakers at Cattlemen’s College.
Assist Meeting and Events Team and Registration Team.
Students may also help producers with their social media along with contributing in the social media booth.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Junior-level college student at an accredited university (must be registered for and attending college at the time of convention)
(Senior-level and graduate students are encouraged to apply.)
Must be available to work February 2 – February 7, 2025 in San Antonio, TX
(Transportation to/from San Antonio is not provided)
Preferably have a background in the cattle and/or beef industry
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Students should be well versed in social media

Meeting and Events Intern
Summary
This position was created to provide hands-on experience with the various facets of association event planning, including small meetings as well as a large-scale convention & trade show. The candidate will spend time with NCBA staff learning about: association management operations, registration, housing, catering, audiovisual, sponsorship sales, customer service, supplier relations, exhibits/trade show, event marketing, entertainment, and overall event production. Internships are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. This internship will be from Monday, January 6, 2025 – Friday, May 9, 2025.
Essential Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Provides customer assistance to registrants via e-mail and telephone and completes data entry of registration forms into registration system
Assists with monitoring hotel block pick-ups
Assists with reserved seating charts and VIP experiences
Manages inventory registration supplies and places orders with vendors to ensure sufficient quantities for meetings
Uses the Function Sheet System to enter details for events taking place during small and large meetings that will be included in the specs book sent to the hotels and convention center (date, time, room set-up, catering & audiovisual needs, etc.)
Assists with marketing the convention, including convention website updates and email marketing campaigns
Acts as support staff CattleCon 2025 in San Antonio (February 1st- February 7th, 2025)
Act as support in additional small meetings and events in the office
Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION - Undergraduate student with a background in hospitality, tourism, or event management program or an agriculture, animal science, agriculture communications, or agricultural marketing program or a comparable degree program with an interest in event production.
EXPERIENCE – Must have intermediate knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the internet.
SKILLS- Must be innovative with event coordination skills, pleasant, outgoing, and at ease meeting new people. Strong customer service skills are required. Must be organized and detail oriented. Must possess excellent communication skills (oral, written) and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Public Policy Intern
Job Description
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, in conjunction with the Public Lands Council, offers internships for the fall, spring, and summer semesters in Washington, D.C. This internship is a unique chance for students interested in the beef industry and federal policy. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with NCBA and PLC staff on several fronts, including policy, communications, and membership, and will work closely with the lobbying and regulatory teams to advance policies important to the beef and sheep industries.
NCBA and PLC are affiliate organizations working on behalf of cattle producers and ranching families across the country. NCBA is producer-directed and consumer-focused, which creates a unique opportunity to unify policy and marketing efforts for the beef industry. Similarly, PLC works to maintain a stable business environment in which livestock producers that hold federal lands grazing permits can continue to conserve the resources and ranching heritage of the West. Together, NCBA and PLC represent the cattle and sheep industries and producers who operate on both public and private lands. This internship is full time in person in the DC office. Internship will be from Monday, January 6, 2025 – Friday, May 9, 2025.
Responsibilities
Participates in NCBA/PLC lobbying efforts

Reviews Federal Registry notices and House & Senate Committee hearings
Communicates with agency and Hill staff
Qualifications
Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student with a background or major in agriculture as well as a background in cattle and/or the beef industry.
Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be available for the duration of the internship.
Must have excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

Producer Education and Sustainability Intern
Summary
Provides tactical support for Producer Education and Sustainability educational programs and support to the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB); assists in execution and implementation of a producer education plan for NCBA consistent with NCBA’s organizational plan and the Beef Industry Long Range Plan as well as the USRSB Strategic Plan. This internship will be January 6, 2025 – May 16, 2025.
Essential Functions
Provides support in the execution of educational programs and materials for Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) state coordinators and other industry stakeholders.
Supports USRSB research and development of resources, provides tactical support in communications for USRSB Sustainability Goals.
Assists in the execution of educational efforts through media such as virtual events and written articles.
Provides team support for preparation of needs for CattleCon by assisting with the BQA booth and BQA team.
Assists in the planning and implementation of Cattlemen’s College at CattleCon and Cattlemen’s Webinar Series virtually.
Attend 2025 CattleCon San Antonio, Texas February 1st – 6th, 2025.
Provides team support for preparation of needs for USRSB General Assembly.
Attend 2025 USRSB General Assembly Fort Worth, Texas April 29th – May 1st, 2025.
The ability to edit and write technical BQA protocols and content.
Additional travel may be required.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE – College junior, senior, or graduate student with an animal science related major. 3.0+ GPA preferred.

SKILLS- Must be able to effectively complete tasks and be a self-starter. Must understand the production, processing and marketing segments associated with the cattle industry from farm/ranch to consumer. Must have the ability to review and assess scientific literature and relate to practical applications in the industry. Must be able to effectively interface with beef producers, the scientific community, meat science, extension, nutrition and veterinary professionals, allied industry, government personnel and industry influencers. Must have strong people, written communication and computer skills (Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint).
