About Idaho Rural Water Association

Idaho Rural Water Association (IRWA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Idaho’s public drinking water and wastewater utilities—most serving communities of 10,000 or fewer. Our mission is to provide premier hands-on technical assistance, professional training, and a strong representative voice for Idaho’s water and wastewater professionals. Each year, IRWA delivers more than 55 statewide training classes, two multi-day technical conferences, and an Outdoor Expo that connects industry professionals, vendors, and community leaders.

 

Position: Membership & Marketing Coordinator                                             

Overview

The Membership & Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in engaging and growing IRWA’s statewide network of members. This position blends creativity, organization, and relationship-building to promote IRWA’s mission, strengthen member relationships, and enhance the visibility of Idaho’s water and wastewater industry.


Key Responsibilities

Member Engagement & Support

  • Develop and integrate systems and practices that encourage and sustain outstanding member satisfaction and high member retention.

  • Manage member records, process new member applications, and maintain accurate information in the association database.

  • Prepare membership and sponsorship invoicing in membership management program and distribute based on appropriate billing cycle.


Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns that promote IRWA programs, events, and services.

  • Create engaging written and visual content for the website, newsletters, brochures, annual report, press releases, and social media platforms.

  • Manage email marketing campaigns, analyze performance, and use data to guide improvements.

  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms and printed materials.

  • Coordinate photography, graphic design, and video production needs for marketing and events.

  • Manage content for quarterly Water Gram magazine production and annual Member Directory.

 

Event Coordination

  • Contribute to the planning, promotion, and execution of 2 annual conferences, an annual outdoor expo, and certain other training events.

  • Negotiate and manage vendor and venue contracts while ensuring positive partnerships and cost-effective outcomes.

  • Develop conference and expo event vendor booth layout and work closely with vendors to register and promote conference events to provide an engaging experience.

  • Collect feedback and conduct post-event evaluations to continuously enhance IRWA events.


Partnerships & Outreach

  • Collaborate with vendors, sponsors, and external partners to develop co-branded marketing initiatives.

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

  • Represent IRWA at local, regional, and national events engaging in association promotion and community public outreach depending on the nature of the event.

  • Attend National Rural Water Association (NRWA) sponsored in-service training programs to receive career-advancing marketing and public relations training and network with industry colleagues.


Administrative Support

  • Support office operations as needed, including answering phones, managing mail, processing deposits or invoices, follow-up on non-payment for services, and assisting team members during events or high-demand periods.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of IRWA’s mission.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience in event planning, communications, or marketing.

  • Experience with website content management systems, social media, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact).


Skills & Abilities

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across print and digital media.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with members, partners, and colleagues.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.

  • Willingness to learn Association Management System (AMS) MemberLeap.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for events and trainings; valid driver’s license required.

Employment Details                                                                                                  

This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Typical office hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with some flexibility for events and travel.

Compensation: $24.00–$27.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Benefits: Comprehensive package including health, dental, vision, disability insurance, paid leave, and eligibility for a 401(k) plan after six months. Fourteen (14) paid holidays.
