Marketing & Communications Manager - New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC)

This position is ideal for someone passionate about animal agriculture, education, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will play a key role in bringing the story of New York’s animal agriculture industry directly to communities across the state.


Position Overview:

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for assisting in marketing a variety of NYAAC programs and projects including the Mobile Dairy Experience (MDE). This position will oversee the operations and logistics of the (MDE), a traveling educational program. The Manager will ensure that the Mobile Dairy Experience provides engaging and informative experiences for visitors, educates the public on the importance of dairy farming, and promotes a positive image of animal agriculture. Along with managing the Mobile Dairy Experience, the selected candidate will also provide support for other NYAAC projects throughout the year as time allows. This position reports to the NYAAC Executive Director.


Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the MDE, ensuring all events run smoothly and efficiently

  • Collaborate with the hired third-party team that manages the on-road staff to ensure all information gathered is shared amongst all necessary parties

  • Coordinate MDE logistics, including scheduling, pre & post-event communication & analysis

  • Ensure farmers in event areas are contacted, involved, and aware of all local events

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, gathering feedback from event participants and stakeholders to improve future programming


Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, event organizers, and other stakeholders to promote the MDE.

  • Represent NYAAC at MDE events interacting with visitors to answer questions and promote awareness about dairy farming and animal agriculture.

  • Capture pertinent information including photos, testimonials, and videos on site at events and throughout the year while visiting New York State farms.

  • Develop necessary social media content and media outreach that is needed for upcoming events

  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, presentations, and other pertinent materials to promote events and raise awareness.

  • Serve and lead on NYAAC & industry focused committees

  • Attend and represent NYAAC at regional and/or state-wide meetings & conferences


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, education, animal science, or related field preferred.

  • Experience in agricultural education, event management, agricultural communications, or a related field required.

  • Strong knowledge of animal agriculture, particularly dairy farming practices, and experience working with calves/animals, is highly preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication & presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 90% of file sharing occurs with Microsoft 365 One Drive. 10% utilizes Google Drive (photos and third-party vendor file sharing).

  • Must be comfortable and confident with executing projects from start to finish while being a motivated, self-starter with an independent work style.

  • Ability to capture and edit content (video, written, photography) or be willing to learn.

  • Experience in fundraising is preferred. Must be comfortable with fundraising.


Other Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with travel, as this position requires travel within New York State for events. Travel will be day trips and occasional overnights.

  • Must travel to a significant number of Mobile Dairy Experience events within the first few months of employment and/or tour season.

  • Travel time will be more extensive during spring & summer months.

  • Must be able to attend Board Meetings held in Syracuse, NY six times a year.

  • Must be available the month of August to assist with the Dairy Cow Birthing Center as needed.

  • Assist with other NYAAC programs, projects, and events held throughout the year as the time allows.

  • Ability to lift 25lbs. and carry equipment and supplies, as well as assist with setting up and taking down exhibits when and if necessary.

  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings, depending on event schedules.

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a clean, valid NYS driver’s license.
