This individual will collaborate with the Hargis Leadership Institute’s (HLI) Assistant Director for Scholarship Programs and HLI Director to coordinate the McKnight Scholars leadership program. Responsibilities of this role include recruitment and selection of incoming McKnight Scholars, scholar retreats, monthly co-curricular activities, leading an annual study abroad program, McKnight alumni relations, and brand development.
Responsibilities Include:
McKnight Scholars Program Coordination
Collaborating with the Scholarship Programs Assistant Director to further establish the McKnight Scholars Program as a premier leadership development program nationally.
Coordinating McKnight Scholars Retreats
Coordinating annual leadership study abroad program
Creating meaningful leadership development co-curricular activities for McKnight Scholars
Assisting with class preparation for McKnight courses
Recruitment and Selection
Collaborating with the Scholarships Program Coordinator to actively recruit top leaders for the McKnight Scholars leadership program
Serving as the HLI Team Lead for the McKnight Scholars selection processes, ensuring the selection of the top student leaders.
Assessment
Collaborating with Scholarship Programs Assistant Director in developing and implementing an assessment strategy that produces verifiable data demonstrating leadership development in McKnight Scholars students.
Tracking retention, graduation, engagement, and other significant metrics for McKnight Scholars students.
Creating an annual assessment report for the McKnight Scholars leadership program
Departmental Support
Collaborating with Leadership Programs Coordinator in developing exceptional leadership development material.
Collaborating with HLI colleagues in executing the university strategy of every graduate developing the competency of ethical leadership.
Other duties as assigned
Requires the ability to work outside for retreats and lift 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Leadership, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Communications, Education, or related field.
One year of experience working with student leaders.
Experience in presenting or public speaking
Experience in small group facilitation
Experience in planning events
Experience recruiting and/or student engagement/programming
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Leadership, Higher Ed, Stu Affairs, Communications, Ed Leadership, or related field.
Experience developing student leaders
Experience teaching
Experience in an educational setting such as K-12 or Higher Education
