Archives Digital Storytelling Internship - Edmon Low Library

A collaborative, exciting creative team seeks an Archives Digital Storytelling Intern who can strategize and produce engaging content that showcases archival material in a social media space. The successful candidate will complete the internship with numerous published writing samples and broad experience in the area of communications relevant to new professionals entering the field.


Employment as an intern is on a semester-by-semester basis. Continued employment is contingent upon funding and performance. This position is eligible for internship credit for strategic communications majors. Filing for credit is the responsibility of the student.

What You'll Do

Intern will develop social media, multimedia content and live video for Special Collections and University Archives with a focus on highlighting the OSU-related collections and other materials from SCUA. This will require working closely with the SCUA staff to research topics, editing photos for optimal display on various social media outlets, and appearing on camera. Intern will write electronic press kits and press releases promoting SCUA at the OSU Library. Intern will play an important role in maintaining the brand voice of SCUA, engaging with audiences, and researching trends and audiences on SCUA's accounts. Intern will find creative ways to utilize new Facebook features as they become available. Intern will perform other duties as assigned.


The Archives Digital Storytelling Intern will work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Hours will be scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. 


This intern will report to both the Head of Special Collections and University Archives and the Manager of Communications Services.


Required Qualifications

  • A student with strong written and oral communication skills who can demonstrate proficiency in AP style.

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Adobe PhotoShop and ability to work on PC.

  • Ability to maintain professional decorum in a team environment based on idea generation, creativity and collaboration.

  • Comfort contributing to the messaging and development of marketing and public relations campaigns.

  • Keen interest in the history of OSU.

  • Willingness to appear and/or speak on camera for Library videos.


Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with basic video production.
