What we want

YouTube Channel Specialist III manages, optimizes, and grows the university’s presence on YouTube, an integral storytelling platform in driving Texas A&M’s external trust and demand. The specialist will curate and deploy compelling content, assist with robust paid media strategy, and advise leadership on best practices to ensure our channel aligns with the university's strategic marketing goals.

Responsibilities

Channel Management & Optimization:

  • Manage and grow the university’s YouTube channel, ensuring a cohesive and professional presence that puts the university’s message in front of new and engaged audiences.

  • Optimize video content for discoverability and performance using YouTube best practices (titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, etc.). 

  • Use SEO and SEM tools, as well as Rival IQ, to provide reporting and insights on channel performance and growth opportunities.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for YouTube within the social media team, advising leadership on trends and platform innovations that the university should leverage.


Content Production:

  • Assist with development and creative direction for high-quality video content in both long-form and short-form formats.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between video content and overall marketing objectives.

  • Capture live video content at campus events and other key university moments, ensuring an authentic and engaging narrative.


Paid Media Strategy:

  • Work with Brand team in developing and executing paid media strategies for YouTube.

  • Assist with the management of Google ad campaigns to support marketing goals.

  • Assist with the monitoring and optimization of YouTube campaigns


Social Listening:

  • Analyze online conversations about the university through social media listening

  • Identify trends in YouTube content placement for the university


Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a marketing or communications specialization.

  • Experience in higher education or nonprofit communications.

  • Certification in Google Ads or YouTube Creator Academy.

  • Familiarity with Texas A&M's branding, storytelling pillars and core values.

  • Three years of professional experience managing large YouTube channels or creating video content.

  • Strong understanding of YouTube analytics

  • Expertise in leveraging SEO strategies to enhance visibility and viewership on YouTube


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with others

  • Detail oriented

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Experience in managing Editorial Calendars to plan and schedule content

  • Familiarity with SEO of YouTube channel content

  • Knowledge of best practices for optimizing YouTube content and engagement

  • Experience with YouTube API for integrating and managing channel features

  • Solid understanding of YouTube channels, including setup and management

  • Experience in digital accessibility of electronic information resources
