West Coast Advisors (WCA) is an issues-focused public affairs and advocacy firm based in Sacramento. Our clients include leading titans in agriculture, energy, food manufacturing, water, and resource management. We are seeking an intern to assist with communications, government affairs, and media projects for agricultural clients.
Responsibilities:
Track, assess, and report on select media coverage
Conduct research as needed to inform messaging and communications
Develop, manage, and promote social media content
Assist with planning and coordination of meetings
Provide support for public affairs and strategic communications projects
Key Qualities / Qualifications:
College student studying agricultural communication or a related field
Excellent communications, writing, and editing skills
Eagerness to learn and problem solve, capable of using online media tools
Professional attitude and strong attention to detail
Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs
Basic familiarity of agricultural and environmental issues
Fundamental understanding or experience in managing social media
Knowledge of state legislature and agency operations, a plus
Opportunities to Learn:

Gain experience with communications planning, delivery, and evaluation
Learn first-hand about real-world agricultural communications needs and strategies
Build an in-depth understanding of key issues impacting the California agriculture industry

Get experience using media monitoring software and other online tools
Develop materials to continue building a professional portfolio
Details:
Internship length is approximately 10 to 12 weeks depending on individual’s schedule
Pay is hourly with schedule to be set according to student availability
