About the Role
The State Policy Lead reports to the Policy Director and helps advance ACC’s policy priorities across target states by supporting policy development, analysis, and tracking in state legislatures, coordinating with state partners, and engaging ACC members in state-level policymaking.

This is a fully virtual role that can be performed remotely from anywhere within the U.S. At the time of applying, you must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. Responsibilities
Research, analyze, and monitor state policy to identify opportunities to advance the organization’s priorities in target states.
Collaborate with partners and internal teams to develop new policy proposals for state legislatures and governors’ offices that align with organizational priorities.
Work with State Directors to build and maintain relationships with state-based policy partners, legislators, governors’ offices, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and achieve policy goals.
Work with State Directors to identify and facilitate opportunities for members to testify, meet with legislators, or otherwise engage in policymaking activities.
Contribute to op-eds, grassroots events, and other in-state initiatives that advance policy priorities.
Qualifications
2-3+ years of experience in state policy or related work is ideal.
Experience with, or knowledge of, state legislatures, governors’ offices, or other state policy environments.
Interest in energy and/or conservation policy.
Strong ability to analyze policy, build relationships, and communicate effectively.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, specifically during legislative sessions, is a plus.
