Reporting Intern - KOSU

Paid • Closes March 12

KOSU is seeking an aspiring journalist to join our team. The intern will work with our news team on daily news and long-term projects, learning to write and record news reports for radio and produce digitally focused reports. The internship aims to give students of diverse backgrounds high-quality, hands-on experience.

KOSU wants interns to be prepared to work in a public radio newsroom the day they complete the program. We will train them in what interests them, especially in helping file spot broadcast stories for newscasts and feature stories to be aired in news magazines. Additionally, they will regularly contribute web content to kosu.org.

They will specifically develop writing and editing skills while working on technical skills, especially with the Adobe Audition program. The intern will be a regular team member and will interact regularly with KOSU reporters while participating in daily budget meetings to discuss coverage and their contributions to it.

This role is designed to provide enriching experiences that equip the intern with a solid foundation for their future career. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.

We are committed to supporting the intern’s growth by offering a structured learning environment and access to our team of editors and team of reporters, who will provide guidance and mentorship throughout the internship. If you have any questions, please email newsdirector@kosu.org.

In addition to your resume, please write a compelling and professional cover letter for the InternOSU position you applied for. Consider highlighting how obtaining an InternOSU position would contribute to your academic and career goals. Share any challenges you’ve encountered in gaining relevant experience and discuss skills you most want to grow through this opportunity.
