The Publications Ad Sales and Sponsor Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the sales of Paint Horse Journal and Chrome Magazine advertising and additional show exhibitor sponsorship opportunities. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with advertisers and sponsors, creating compelling sales proposals, and ensuring the delivery of contracted benefits.
Essential Duties & Functions
General
Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets for Paint Horse Journal and Chrome Magazine.
Sells and coordinates exhibitor sponsorships for World Champion, Halter Million, Eastern National, and Western National shows.
Maintains database of advertisers, sponsors, and potential prospects.
Works with Director of Business Development to ensure the fulfillment of sponsorship agreements, including the delivery of all promised benefits.
Track and report sales performance and exhibitor sponsorships to inform strategic planning.
Collaborates with marketing and events teams to develop sponsorship packages that enhance the association’s offerings.
Attend industry events and networking opportunities to promote the association and its sponsorship opportunities.
Works with outside designers on specifications to produce client’s ads.
Trouble shoots with advertisers and sponsors to handle any concerns as well as payment collection.
Special Emphasis
Promotes the Paint Horse Journal and Chrome Magazine and solidifies why it’s important to advertise in the association’s publications and the benefits of doing so.
Respond to telephone, mail and email requests as it relates to publications and sponsorships.
Manage the sales process from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing.
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential advertisers and sponsors within the equine industry.
Position Requirements
Must possess outstanding sales and marketing skills.
Must have ability to build and nurture relationships with clients, members, and others.
Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to meet set deadlines.
Must have strong computer skills, i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, AS400, Outlook.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
Must have familiarity with the equine industry and market dynamics.
Education and Experience
A 2 or 4-year college degree with an emphasis in sales and/or marketing preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.
One to two years related experience or training preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to speak and hear.
Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel frequently.
Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently.
Ability to sit for long periods.
Ability to stand and walk occasionally.
Ability to see small numbers and figures and work for extended periods on computer.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds continuously and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers).
Light employee traffic.
Exposure to heat and/or cold temperatures at shows.
Exposure to dust and dirt at shows.
Exposure to animals at shows.
