Overview:
The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Shows to lead and oversee the Show Department. This senior-level role is responsible for planning, executing, and managing all NRCHA premier events, as well as providing oversight of affiliate and sanctioned events. The Director of Shows will provide strong leadership to a team of full-time staff, supervise contracted staff, and ensure that every event is executed to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Affiliate and Sanctioned Shows
Oversee approvals, scheduling, and results reporting for all affiliate and sanctioned shows.
Ensure compliance with NRCHA rules, memberships, and voting processes.
Manage mailings, communication, and documentation associated with affiliate events.
NRCHA Premier Events
Plan and manage all aspects of premier NRCHA events, including schedules, entry packets, entries, and facility coordination.
Maintain relationships with facilities, vendors, and staff to ensure smooth operations.
Oversee show operations, results, payouts, reconciliation, stalls, rental equipment, and cattle management (contracts, counts, etc.).
Develop and manage event budgets, including year-end financial planning.
Supervise contracted staff and coordinate with the internal team to ensure successful events.
Software Management and Development
Manage and oversee software platforms used by the Show Department, including HorseShowForWindows, Access, CowHorsePlus, and HubSpot.
Lead improvements, development, and adoption of software to streamline operations and reporting.
Leadership & Management
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Show Department staff.
Mentor and develop staff, ensuring high performance and accountability.
Coordinate with other NRCHA departments to support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of horse show management experience.
Proven experience leading a team and managing events at a high level.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in HorseShowForWindows, Access, CowHorsePlus, and HubSpot.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
In-office presence required; this role is not remote.
Preferred:
Experience managing large-scale equestrian events.
Budgeting and financial management experience.
Strong network within the reined cow horse industry.
