Doctoral and Master Graduate Assistantship – Fall 2025

The Department of Agricultural and Education and Studies at Iowa State University is currently seeking individuals for doctoral and master’s level graduate assistantships. The assistantships begin Fall of 2025. Assistantship funding is available, for doctoral-level students (3-year program) and master-level students (2-year program). Each assistantship is a nine-month, half-time appointment requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week with potential for the summer term. All assistantships are contingent upon being successfully admitted to the Agricultural Education program.


1. Agricultural Education SBAE Focus- Masters or Ph.D

Position Summary: The selected individual will assist with teaching and research efforts in the department related to agricultural education. Ph.D. students may teach undergraduate courses, supervise student teachers, conduct research, and other duties as assigned. They will have an active role within the teacher education program.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must exhibit strong oral and written communication skills and be able to collaborate with graduate students and faculty. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in SBAE if applying for a Ph.D. position.

2. Agricultural Education SBAE Focus- Masters or Ph.D.

Position Summary: This position will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning, execution, and management of Teacher Recruitment and Retention (TRR) Committee initiatives. This position is designed for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual passionate about agricultural education, youth leadership, and hands-on learning experiences. Key responsibilities include the coordination and logistical planning of teacher mentoring and teacher recruitment events while providing support in developing and maintaining materials, resources, and tools for leadership training.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education, Leadership, Event Management, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and event management software. Experience as an Agricultural Educator is preferred.

3. Agricultural Communication Focus- Masters Only

Position Summary: The selected individual will be expected to assist with research related to communicating with consumer mothers, women in agriculture, and/or teaching and learning in agricultural communication. A successful applicant should be interested in qualitative research and have experience in writing and other agricultural communication skills.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required, in agricultural communications or a related field.

Compensation

  • Half-time assistantships receive tuition support, monthly stipend, and individual health insurance.

  • Continuation of financial support is contingent upon satisfactory performance of your assistantship duties and making satisfactory progress towards your degree.
