The National Reined Cow Horse Association is seeking a passionate and driven individual for our 2026 NRCHA Kalpowar Quarter Horses Celebration of Champions Media & Marketing Internship, held in Fort Worth, Texas, February 14–28, 2026. This internship offers a rare opportunity to work behind the scenes at one of the NRCHA’s premier annual events.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in the western performance horse industry

  • Knowledge of reined cow horse—or general horse show experience—is preferred but not required

  • Confident interviewing skills; comfortable speaking with riders, trainers, and industry professionals

  • Ability to write clear, compelling articles under same-day deadlines

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced event environment

  • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required

Daily Tasks

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct interviews with riders following high-scoring runs, division championships, and other standout moments, including potential human-interest features

  • Use quotes and insights from these interviews to craft articles for the Reined Cow Horse News Daily email newsletter, distributed each morning during the event. Most articles are written day-of, approved that evening, and published the next day—requiring strong deadline discipline

  • Assist with social media content creation, including filming reels, short-form videos, and live stories that highlight the action and authenticity of reined cow horse

  • Capture photo and video content to support daily coverage and build NRCHA’s archive of future-use assets

  • Help organize, tag, and manage photo/video files for internal use

Additional Media Opportunities

Depending on skillset and interest, interns may also assist with:

  • Photography coverage

  • Graphic design projects

  • Filming video interviews and short-form social content

  • Editing highlight reels or promotional clips for digital platforms

  • Coordinating athlete or sponsor media requests

Academic Requirements

Because of the internship length, dates must be pre-approved by an academic advisor or professor. Time will be allotted for coursework, but all deadlines or exams must be communicated to the NRCHA hiring team in advance.
