Organization Overview:

The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (S.A.L.E.) is a volunteer organization emphasizing agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas. S.A.L.E. conducts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious single events in San Antonio with over 1.5 million visitors entering the grounds annually. S.A.L.E. has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community, agriculture industry and youth of Texas. With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from over 7,000 volunteers, S.A.L.E. continues to provide wholesome family entertainment and be a pillar of strength and support to the youth of Texas.


Competitive Events Internship Opportunity:

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo hosts a variety of competitive events and educational activities. The candidate will work closely with staff and volunteers in organizing and carrying out the daily office tasks. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: responding to agents, ag teachers, parents and exhibitors’ inquiries, marketing and communications, show entry management, posting of show results, daily office duties, accounting and data entry. Positions are full-time and extended work hours may be required.


Competitive Events Intern Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Junior or Senior Classification preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player

  • Must be self-motivated and a quick learner.

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Experience with Microsoft programs

  • Livestock knowledge is helpful but not required

  • Customer Service Skills


Competitive Events Intern Duties

  • Daily office duties

  • Respond to exhibitors’ inquiries

  • Marketing and communications

  • Show entry management

  • Posting show results

  • Accounting and data entry


Competitive Events Media Intern Duties

  • Write human interest stories and press releases

  • Assist in managing social media channels

  • Capture around-the-grounds and show-ring candid shots

  • Produce video content

  • Develop custom graphics for website and social media


The dates for the internships are as follows (dates may be flexible):

Position: Competitive Events Show Intern

Date: January 4, 2027 – March 31, 2027 (flexible start & end date)
