Graphic Designer - Farm Bureau

Department: Communications


Position Objective: Work with Director of Creative Services in creating a wide range of marketing and policy-related materials that further AFBF’s mission and promote and build the AFBF/FB brand. This includes but is not limited to, flyers, posters, signage, brochures, social media graphics, reports, logos and invitations.


Reports To: Director, Creative Services


Location: Washington, DC; eligible to earn telework 2 days/week


Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine designs with a collaborative, flexible and responsive mindset

  • Build strong working relationships with “internal clients” (AFBF staff) and maintain a positive attitude

  • Work independently to design, refine and finalize multiple assigned projects simultaneously

  • Create project schedules and meet deadlines agreed to by clients

  • Maintains tracking and archive system in accordance with established Creative Services protocols

  • Serve as an in-house photographer producing headshots and covering events

  • Assist in other Creative Services functions and duties as assigned


Relationships:

Collaborate with Creative Services colleagues, Communications team and other AFBF departments with graphic design needs to maintain a reputation of excellence in creative design. Work with external vendors as necessary to deliver high quality products.


Education or Training Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design


Experience and Skills Required:

  • 4-6 years of design experience in an in-house creative department or design firm

  • Strong conceptual skills, high-level sense of design, layout, and typography

  • Broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions

  • Self-starter with strong time management skills that ensure deadlines are met with minimal supervision

  • Advanced proficiency in the latest versions of Adobe CC Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Lightroom) on a Macbook Pro

  • Working knowledge and comfort with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Expert knowledge of graphic design production processes and experience with print production

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a strong team player

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Experience taking quality digital photographs of individuals (headshots) and events (conventions/meetings)

  • Knowledge of current design programs and trends for print, online media, and digital photography.


Preferred Education / Experience / Training / Skills:

  • Association experience preferred

  • Familiarity with agriculture a plus

  • Social media and web advertising design experience a plus
