Grand Drive Media Intern - Kansas State Fair

Join us for the Kansas State Fair Grand Drive Media Internship program. You will gain experience in a real-world setting and have fun at the same time. Enjoy being part of the Grand Drive team that focuses on developing youth through livestock programs.

Up to four interns will be selected to create Grand Drive social media, serve as the liaison with official show photographers, take candid photos and other special projects as needed during Grand Drive weekend. Make the most of your experience by working with a great group of people who are passionate about the livestock industry.

When: Interns will arrive on Friday morning, Sept. 6, for training and preparation ahead of the show, and stay throughout Sunday, Sept. 8, until the shows are complete.

Who: College students or older with experience in writing, photography, videography and design. Applicants should have their own cameras and laptops with Adobe programs.

What: Interns will provide coverage of the Grand Drive weekend livestock exhibitors and shows through experiences including:

• Take candid photographs of all division/breed winners for sponsorship recognition.

• Create graphics and post to social media to announce winners and thank sponsors throughout the show.

• Capture barn and ring candids to share the “story” of the Grand Drive.

• Gather content of sponsors, youth or organizers to promote the Grand Drive.

• Create short form videos (reels or tik toks) to showcase stories from the Grand Drive.

Whitney Whitaker, Grand Drive media internship coordinator, will provide training, outline the weekend’s projects and serve as a mentor to guide interns for the weekend. Interns will be provided with a t-shirt, meals, lodging and $300 for their work during the Grand Drive weekend.
