Position Title: Director of Producer Services
Responsible To: Executive Director
Primarily responsible in playing a key role in increasing industry awareness of the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA), National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), and National Pork Board (NPB) priorities and programs.
Qualifications:
1. College degree with experience in business or agricultural related fields. Agriculture emphasis with course work in animal science, management, education and communications is helpful.
2. Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills.
3. Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative to develop programs that meet the needs of the association.
4. A working knowledge of both checkoff and non-checkoff programs and priorities.
5. Willingness to travel and may require the towing of a trailer to association sponsored events.
6. This position is an in-person position located in Springfield. Employee will be expected to travel at least one day per week across the state.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Develops, expands, enhances, retains, and promotes membership and grassroots development for both IPPA and NPPC programs.
2. Identify and enroll producers in NPBs sustainability and animal disease preparedness programs and grants.
3. Helps coordinate and assist with functions and activities of county organizations.
4. Assists with activities, including cook demonstrations, that help increase pork consumption, pork production and the overall industry image.
5. Responsible for Producer Services, Expo and State Fair Committees.
6. Manages the Pork Patio at the Illinois State Fair
7. Assists with the Illinois Pork Expo, consisting of but not limited to, exhibitor contracts, registration, programming and auction details.
8. Manages producer services and programs, including Swine Spotlight, TQA, PQA, etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Assists Executive Director in special areas of work where needed and designated.
2. Assists in the development of new ideas and programs for the IPPA.
3. Works with all committees, the Board of Directors of the IPPA, and NPB and NPPC to communicate our messages properly to our members and the public.
4. Maintains good relations with the agriculture community, allied industry and with the agricultural news media.
5. Manages the membership database for the association.
