FGS Global (FGS), a leading strategic communications and government relations firm, is seeking a sharp and energetic junior communications professional to join the firm’s Strategic Communications Food and Agriculture practice. This is a great position for a proactive self-starter interested in communications and issues management, supporting a growing team working at the forefront of food, agriculture, climate, nutrition and more. This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office and follows a hybrid schedule with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office.


Responsibilities

  • Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, owned media content, etc.)

  • Pitch wide variety of media contacts

  • Build and maintain press lists

  • Prepare briefing documents, talking points, etc.

  • Assist client teams in prep for meetings/pitches

  • Monitor and/or compile daily press clips for multiple clients

  • Proactively identifying and addressing any immediate concerns or obstacles to ensure workflow moves smoothly

  • Managing sensitive matters with a high level of confidentiality and discretion

  • Responding to requests outside of regular business hours as needed

  • Administrative support, including: 

    • Managing all aspects of schedule

    • Preparing and submitting expense reports

    • Coordinating and booking travel

    • Filtering internal and external requests


Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus relevant internship experience

  • Interest in food and agriculture

  • Previous experience in communications field, particularly media engagement

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Creative thinker excited to join a collaborative group of smart, passionate and highly motivated people

  • Strong writing and research skills

  • Familiarity with social media platforms

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite

  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects at once with little direction

  • Strong propensity to think multiple steps ahead and anticipate needs, challenges, and questions.

  • Ability to act proactively and take initiative to address client and team needs.

  • Ability to exercise intense discretion and confidentiality in a professional manner

  • Ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines and apply appropriate judgment; enjoys a challenge



In Washington, D.C., the base salary for this position at the time of this posting is 60,000 USD.


District of Columbia Salary Range


$60,000—$60,000 USD
