Aksarben Stock Show Internship

Grand Island, NE Closes January 20


The livestock show internship for the Aksarben Stock Show is geared towards applicants interested in learning how to work, manage, and execute livestock shows at an elite level. The position will report directly to the Agriculture Director, Livestock Manager, and Competitive Exhibits Manager from the Nebraska State Fair Office in Grand Island, Nebraska.


A successful candidate will be enrolled in an agriculture-related major. They will be excellent at oral and written communication. The applicant will be a self-starter with minimal supervision and maximum production. They will have great organizational skills and be very detail-oriented.  


Time Period: total of 7 working days; September 21st – September 27th 

  • The intern will be expected to work the complete duration of the Aksarben Stock Show, including weekend days and evening hours.  


Responsibilities: 

  • Office and customer service  

  • Pre-show correspondence  

  • Entry management  

  • Compile information for packets for species (Goats, Sheep, Beef, Swine, Broilers)  

  • Assist with springboard signage  

  • Event planning  

  • Assist division and department superintendents  

  • Assist with duties associated with livestock check-in  

  • Assist with contests held during the Aksarben Stock Show 

  • Assist with award organization and distribution of awards during and at shows 

  • Assist with additional experiences offered by the livestock department 

  • Clerking shows  

  • Additional duties as determined by supervisor.  


Requirements:  

  • Candidate must be a collegiate sophomore or older at the time of the 2026 Aksarben Stock Show (can be a current freshman at the time of applying) 

  • Selected intern cannot be an exhibitor or competitor at the 2026 Aksarben Stock Show 

  • Candidate must have a stock show background.
