The Kansas Soybean Association (KSA) is the voice and advocate for soybean farmers on local, state, national, and international issues of importance. Its advocacy efforts are made possible by farmers’ voluntary memberships and industry partners’ sponsorship. KSA is the primary contractor to the Kansas Soybean Commission (KSC). The KSC works to improve the profit potential for all soybean farmers in Kansas through research, education, and market development.
Internship Position Guide
The Kansas Soybean Association will be engaging two (2) 2026 summer interns: One position in Communications and one position in Outreach.
Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Outreach, the interns will have the opportunity to work on projects across the spectrum of soybean promotion to bring value to Kansas soybean farmers. Interns will manage projects to increase awareness and engagement.
This program is designed to engage you in day-to-day activities and projects contributing towards our strategic goals, develop relationships and work with staff across the organization, as well as apply what you have learned in the classroom to actual business situations.
The Communications Intern will focus on content creation to engage consumer and farmer audiences. This intern will develop and post content for the brand’s social media channels, write feature stories, design dynamic materials and represent Kansas Soybeans at events.
Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Graphic Design majors preferred.
Exposure to and/or experience with Adobe products, photography, videography and WordPress preferred.
The Outreach Intern will focus on market development, advocacy, biodiesel promotion, research, and farmer outreach. This intern will handle logistics for events, represent Kansas Soybean at events and research, review, and analyze information to present to key interest groups.
Business, Economics, Political Science, or Education or similar College of Ag majors preferred
These positions are available for 12 weeks, from mid-May to mid-August, equivalent to 40 hours per week, non-exempt. Some travel, in and out of state, and weekend work will be required. The internship will be located at the Kansas Soybean office in Topeka, Kansas.
Qualifications
Be a self-starter able to manage time and meet deadlines.
Be able to understand project expectations and follow up where needed.
Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
Must be committed to working effectively as a team and independently.
Have a desire to learn about and support soybean farmers in Kansas.
General knowledge of agriculture preferred, but not required.
