Member and Youth Activities Coordinator
The American Gelbvieh Association is currently seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a Member and Youth Activities Coordinator. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and energetic team with the primary goal of improving the Gelbvieh and Balancer® breed by assisting members and growing the American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA).
This position, based in the AGA headquarters office in Lincoln, Nebraska, is responsible for coordinating all activities of the AGJA including working closely with the AGJA board of directors throughout the year to plan and organize AGJA events. In addition, this role will plan events including the AGA National Show and the AGA National Convention and assist with providing excellent customer service to AGA members and customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Coordinate all American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) activities including junior nationals, regional shows, board meetings, AGJA Steer Profitability Challenge and leadership conferences (Youth Beef Industry Congress in even years and the IGS Summit in odd years, planned with other IGS junior advisors).
Organize AGJA fundraising efforts and work closely with AGJA board and members in meeting fundraising goals. Fundraising activities include annual calendar, donation heifer ticket sales, online auction, apparel sale, Junior Classic silent and live auction, adult showmanship event and Junior classic award sponsorships.
Serve as staff advisor to the AGJA board of directors and members, managing the annual budget and balancing monthly records.
Coordinate AGA National Show and serve as staff liaison and show superintendent at various shows and AGA national show committee. Shows include the American Royal, NAILE, NILE, Cattlemen’s Congress, NWSS and state and regional shows as needed.
Serve as staff liaison to the AGA member education committee and coordinate all annual education opportunities for AGA membership, including bi-monthly webinar coordination, website and email communications, Gelbvieh World articles, and education activities during the AGA annual convention.
Plan, coordinate and execute the annual AGA convention, including host hotel contracts, catering, staff, speaker and board member travel, educational sessions, annual AGA banquet, and sponsorship/grant invoicing and accounts receivable.
Negotiate host hotel and facility agreements in collaboration with host states when applicable for AGA Convention, AGJA regional shows and AGJA Junior Classic.
Work with AGJA show host states to secure and process large financial donations.
Coordinate and disseminate AGJA scholarships on behalf of the American Gelbvieh Foundation and its donors.
Order and proof awards for Junior Classic, AGA National Show & AGA National Convention.
Travel is required up to 35%. Travel includes attending livestock shows, AGJA events, production sales, education and outreach, and industry events.
Position will include opportunities to gain professional growth, leadership and education.
Additional responsibilities as appointed by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of the beef cattle industry and proficient in communicating with junior and adult members.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Comfortable with computers and related technology.
Ability to travel and arrange travel within a pre-determined budget.
Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
Ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple activities effectively
Must be reliable, dependable and a self-starter.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in agriculture or equivalent industry experience.
Beef cattle industry experience required.
