Marketing Communications Intern - American Quarter Horse Association

The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) prides ourselves on how well we care for our members and industry. AQHA’s Marketing internship reaches into all aspects of the equine industry, regardless of discipline. Qualified candidates will be challenged to support the creation of posts for several social networks; help promote AQHA events and functions; and assist with various promotions, advertising, and marketing programs.

What are we looking for:

  • Team player, eager to help fellow team members as well as our AQHA members.

  • Knowledge and experience with all forms of social media.

  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience writing press releases, advertising copy and blog posts.

  • Ability to multi-task and work with minimum supervision.

  • Equine knowledge preferred but not required.


  • Social media management and initiatives including but not limited to:

    • Assist with AQHA’s presence on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social networks.

    • Reputation management/assigning Facebook direct messages for response.

  • Website content changes

    • Member experience statistics

  • Write and/or position website content for maximum engagement.

  • Develop creative ways to market and promote AQHA’s products and services through online content.

  • Create email blasts for a variety of departments.

  • Track website and e-newsletter performance.

  • Write original blog posts, as needed.

  • Write advertising copy.

  • Press release writing.

  • Social media coverage at events.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Full time position available

  • Monday – Friday, 8am – 5 pm. Some travel is required.

  • This position is on-site and in office only at our headquarters in Amarillo, Texas.

  • Training provided.
