Graphic Designer - Great Plains Manufacturing: Ag Division

Salina, KS • Full-Time • Bachelor's Degree Required

Great Plains Ag, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic Graphic Designer to create and produce visually-appealing graphics to support a variety of marketing initiatives and strategies. The Graphic Designer reports to the Ag Division Marketing Manager.

This is an on-site position in Salina, Kansas. General hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00, with occasional overtime and travel, as necessary.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a mastery of design software and technologies to create engaging marketing content that is visually appealing and on-brand, including fliers, brochures, and catalogs; illustrations; logos; posters; print and digital advertising; social media content; point of purchase displays; tradeshow graphics; direct mail pieces; videos and website graphics; product decals; and other brand assets.

  • Assist with photography and video shoots in studio and on location.

  • Video production and editing. 

  • Assist in updating and maintaining the Great Plains Ag Division and Corporate websites.

  • Prioritize and manage work flow to ensure that assigned tasks are completed as requested and within set deadlines.

  • Contribute to team efforts through active participation in meetings, creative sessions, events, and discussions.

  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of design and visual principles to select and recommend appropriate colors, fonts, and layouts for each project and media type.

  • Amend designs as needed after feedback.

  • Select, supervise, and obtain cost estimates from outside vendors such as photographers, illustrators, paper suppliers, or printers.

  • Generate clear and thorough purchase orders for outside vendors so materials are produced accurately, within budget, and on time.

  • Prepare final layout for printer or outside vendor and check proofs to ensure the quality of the final product.

  • Maintain image resource files.

  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Expert knowledge of design software and technologies, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, and 3D modeling. Knowledge of Creo or a similar rendering program is a plus.

  • Excellent command of graphic design/layout and production skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, problem-solve and handle competing initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Capacity for follow-through and task completion.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday.

  • Agriculture experience is highly recommended.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Graphic Design or similar from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One to two years of design experience, working at an agency or in-house creative department.
