Internship Overview
The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) increases beef demand through research, education and promotion. We reach millions of consumers via content marketing, social media, in-person events, and strategic advertising, with key partnerships including Sporting KC and K-State Athletics. This internship focuses on consumer outreach, specifically managing our “Tailgater of the Game" program while assisting in other core areas of outreach. You'll gain firsthand, practical experience in developing and managing a campaign from concept to reporting, creating cohesive brand messaging throughout. We seek highly self-motivated and organized individuals who can take initiative in connecting with consumers and stakeholders.
Key Programming Priorities Throughout the Internship
Manage the Kansas State University “Tailgater of the Game” outreach, including coordinating volunteers, developing marketing materials, interacting with consumers, promoting the event and evaluating advertising at games.
Support Major League Soccer activation events in person in Kansas City.
Assist with nutrition outreach education and events.
Develop engaging consumer and producer-focused content for social media, newsletters, website articles and press releases.
Create educational materials for consumers, educators and health professionals
Represent KBC at industry events and trade shows.
Required Qualifications
Current enrollment in a bachelor’s program in Agricultural Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
Availability to attend all K-State home football games.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with content creation.
Proficiency in design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
Knowledge of agriculture and a passion for the beef industry.
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel.
Work Schedule
August 1 through December (Fall Semester).
5-10 hours per week in a hybrid work environment, with additional hours occasionally required.
Attendance at monthly, in-person strategic planning meetings.
Occasional weekends or evenings required for K-State and Sporting KC events.
Flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments.
Mileage and work-related expenses will be reimbursed.
Preference will be given to students that could start in early July to fully plan for our K-State programming.
Preference given to candidates available to work in our Topeka office one day per week.
Compensation: $18 / hour
