Position Summary
Kansas Corn is seeking a Communications Manager to serve as one of several communication leads to support internal and external communications efforts. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Communications and Education and other members of the Kansas Corn communication team and staff to assist with digital communications, publications, events, and special projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated communicator looking to build skills in agricultural communications.
Key Responsibilities
The communications team structure allows for flexibility in responsibilities based on each staff member’s strengths. The responsibilities listed are intended to provide a general framework. The skill set the new team member brings will help inform adjustments to responsibilities as the communications team is considered holistically.
Provide communication support and communications strategic planning for grower services, education programs, events, and promotions
Support graphic design and layout projects for print and digital materials (newsletters, brochures, reports, event materials)
Assist with execution of news releases, newsletters, email communications, fact sheets, and talking points
Support social media content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement
Website management and content development
Assist with video and photo assets and basic video and photo editing
Help coordinate media requests, interviews, and event coverage
Support special communications projects as assigned, including surveys, reports, and outreach campaigns
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, agricultural communications, or a related field (or expected graduation)
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools
Experience with graphic design software (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively
Proactive mindset and self-starter attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in agriculture or public policy
Basic photography or video editing experience
