The Agricultural and Extension Education Graduate Program at Mississippi State University is currently seeking two individuals for master-level graduate assistantships beginning the Fall Semester of 2024.
Master’s Assistantships (2)
Assistantship #1 (Agricultural and Extension Education) - The selected individual will assist with the planning and production of virtual reality field trips featuring Mississippi soybean producers and production practices, assist with data collection, analysis, reporting, and presenting research results. Additional opportunities may include conducting literature searches for research projects, assisting faculty members in data collection and analysis for research projects, conducting outreach and service programs, disseminating information to appropriate stakeholders, and other duties as assigned. This project is funded through the Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board. The graduate assistant will work directly with Drs. Carley Morrison and OP McCubbins.
Assistantship #2 (Agricultural and Extension Education) - The selected individual will assist with the planning and production of virtual reality field trips featuring Mississippi commodities, producers, and production practices and facilitation of in-service teacher professional development. Additional opportunities include conducting literature searches for research projects, assisting faculty members in data collection and analysis for research projects, conducting outreach and service programs, disseminating information to appropriate stakeholders, and other duties as assigned. This project is funded through the USDA NIFA. The graduate assistant will work directly with Drs. Carley Morrison and OP McCubbins.
Qualifications for Master’s Assistantships
Successful candidates must be admitted to the Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Extension Education. A bachelor's degree (minimum GPA 3.0) is required, preferably in agricultural education, agricultural and extension education, extension education, agricultural leadership, or agricultural communications.
Appointment
Graduate assistantships for master’s degree students include a minimum of 20 hours of assistantship-related responsibilities per week. The assistantships fund full-time graduate-level coursework (9 – 13 hours) per spring and fall semester up to 2.5 years. This is a 12-month appointment, subject to an annual renewal based on availability of funding and performance as a graduate assistant.
