DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: To effectively and efficiently develop meaningful and lasting relationships with the patrons we serve at the McKnight Center through high-quality customer-service, delivering products and experiences that connect, inspire and impassion patrons for the Arts.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Development and in consultation with the McKnight Center Executive Director, provide the leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all McKnight Center fundraising efforts. The Sr. Director of Development will create fundraising strategies that increase the Center’s support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. The Senior Director plays a key role in identifying, cultivation and soliciting major donors for annual fund gifts and campaigns.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Guide & Advance Funding Priorities for the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts
Set strategies and goals for all campaigns in coordination with appropriate and related staff. Campaigns to include but not limited to annual operating, endowment, capital and planned giving.
Provide leadership and coordinate between the OSU Foundation and McKnight Center for back-office services and other touchpoints in support of McKnight Center fundraising goals;
Oversee grant research and application processes to identify funding sources aligned with institutional purpose;
Ensure the development of corporate support and sponsorships;
Oversee planning, production and goal setting of all special event activities including major fundraising events;
Provide strategic direction for assigned fundraising priorities and programs and plan strategies for priority prospects;
Perform and evaluate fundraising tasks and/or projects with appropriate supervision.
Major Gift Fundraising
Develop strong personal relationships with key supporters and serve as a leading advocate and solicitor for institutional support;
Responsible for independently performing identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects with an emphasis on prospects capable of giving $50,000 or more.
Facilitate relationships between potential and current donors and the OSU Foundation Development team on behalf of the McKnight Center, and actively engage McKnight Center administrators and artists in fundraising opportunities;
Conduct a minimum of 140-150 personal visits with donors, prospective donors, and their advisors to solicit planned gifts and major gifts, manage a portfolio of 75-100 active donors and prospects, and travel locally, regionally, and nationally as appropriate for donor management.
Report and track fundraising progress through the use of contact reports, prospect management and other communication tools to ensure efficient and effective communication;
Successfully solicits 18-24 major gifts annually.
