The VCE Publications Specialist works with Virginia Cooperative Extension Publication team members to create and distribute dynamic and accessible publications and other resources. Under the direction of the Publication Manager, the Publications Specialist is responsible for creating and revising publications using InDesign and Microsoft Word, posting publications to the VCE Website, the VCE Storefront, and the Library of Virginia publications depository; managing the pest management guide revision process; proofreading publications and website entries; creating fillable and accessible forms; maintaining the VCE publications file archive; assisting with the production of digital publications; assisting faculty members with digital publication enhancements such as photos and video; assisting with the implementation of a marketing plan including social media; keeping clients and vendors informed, as well as fiscal duties including purchasing and payments; and general office tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications High attention to detail, ability to work independently, with a commitment to quality customer service. Experience editing and creating print and digital documents using the Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to manage complex spreadsheets, and be extremely organized.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of digital accessibility requirements and the ability to create accessible digital content; photography skills including planning, taking and editing photos and videos; experience using website CMS systems, and knowledge of Virginia Tech fiscal processes and software, including HokieMart and Chrome River.
