Public Relations Specialist – Noble Research Institute

This monumental undertaking requires thousands of producers across the U.S. to overcome significant barriers and change their current practices to work with nature, not against it.


Job Summary

Responsible for impacting public relations for the Institute by directly leading event management, internal and external public relations, and negotiating and securing all media opportunities while following proper policy and procedure. Responsible for conducting necessary media research to complete media analysis and evaluation. Manage media and influencer lists, support PR, MR, and media strategies to include creating and pitching concepts, media outreach and coordination, and crafting and placing content. Engage in product launches and events through assisting with identification and outreach of media targets, event planning and venue research, preparation of executive briefing materials, and onsite event support.


Essential Functions

PR Management – Coordinate all public relations activities including internal employee events and external events for customers and media. Manage media inquiries and interview requests, escalating crisis communication issues as necessary. Create content for press releases, byline articles, and keynote presentations.


Metrics and Reporting - Develop metrics to guide monitoring of the agriculture industry and competitive media coverage. Analyze, and communicate results of public relations activities monthly and/or quarterly. Provide regular status reports on media activity, business event progress reports as they occur, and manage daily coverage reports. Assist with the development of KPI’s, evaluation of public relations program impacts, and various communications activities.


PR Strategy - Utilize market drivers and industry trends to develop public relations strategies, seeking high-level placement in print, broadcast, and online media, in coordination with Marketing and Communications overall strategy and plan. Ensure the public relations strategy and plan messaging is inclusive of products, launches, research, and solutions and aligns with organizational and departmental standards and goals. Develop and propose public relations budget. To support budget allocation, research and create reports showcasing the effectiveness of public relations programs and initiatives and demonstrate how the initiatives contribute to the overall business objectives including new marketing development and sales growth.


Collaboration - Manage relationships to effectively collaborate with internal partners, media outlets, external partners, and our target audience to expand Noble’s public relations efforts within the community, region, state, nation, and globe.


External Relationships – Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate and steward new relationships capable of partnering with and/or supporting the Institute’s outreach and grow industry awareness of Noble and our products, services, and solutions. Evaluate opportunities for sponsorships and advertising on an ongoing basis.


Team Membership – Support and contribute to the objectives of your team, and its contribution to the goal of the organization. Represent Noble’s mission and values. Care for the land and its improvement.


Customer Service - Use a customer service-focused approach for all interactions and tasks. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with employees, contractors, visitors, and guest. Remain in constant contact and collaboration with internal partners, media outlets, external partners, and our target audience across various platforms. Act as a representative of Noble and utilize exceptional communication, both oral and written, to clearly and concisely convey the business/product messages and to depict the business in the highest standard possible.


Education - Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Alternative education and experience will be considered.


Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations in a professional setting is required. Alternatively, a high school diploma and 10 years or associate and 8 years of experience in the aforementioned areas will be considered.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and practices.

  • Strong organization and planning skills

  • Ability to speak in public comfortably. Ability to travel to various events or locations.

  • Ability to work irregular hours and be on call when on site for various events.

  • Effective interpersonal relations, good communication skills, and a commitment to customer-focused services.

  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to change in environments and priorities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer use and knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet use)

  • Ability to work under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
