Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Under the supervision of the Public Information Officer II, this position will primarily do communications and promotions production work for the Nevada Department of Agriculture, including writing, production/preparation and proofreading of materials (reports, digital media, news release and other promotional publications) in print and online. The position produces, coordinates and reviews design, graphics and printing functions; plans, implements and updates social media and websites; and shoots and edits photography and videography projects. The position also develops strategic communications plans, stakeholder communications and materials for presentation at board meetings, conferences, trade shows and other events. In addition, the position assists with public outreach, media relations and interviews, key message development and public information requests.
