This position is in the City’s Office of Public Information and Marketing and reports to an immediate supervisor. This position is responsible for coordinating and producing content for digital marketing channels, including television, websites, and social media. Using standard or online social media platforms, the employee produces original media content, which may include fully-edited still photography, animations, and broadcast-ready recorded/live audio and video productions. An employee in this classification is responsible for overseeing digital media projects from concept to completion. This includes developing effective marketing and communication materials to support print and digital marketing efforts across the organization.
Job Summary
This position is located in the Office of Public Information and Marketing Department, City Manager's Office, within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. The Public Information and Marketing Coordinator must possess previously acquired knowledge and skill in various aspects of communications and public relations. The position’s primary responsibility is to effectively communicate information to Oklahoma City residents, City employees, businesses and other stakeholders about City services, programs and events through traditional and digital avenues such as the City’s website, social media, newsletters and other platforms. Essential job functions include: developing messaging strategies and content for our online and print platforms including, but not limited to social media, okc.gov, eNewsletters, email, the City’s employee intranet portal, brochures, fliers and signage; implementing communications plans and/or promotions; researching, writing and proofreading to ensure clear, concise and understandable information; creating public relations strategies; writing news releases; and website maintenance and content creation. The position requires well-developed communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with City employees at all levels of the organization, outside agencies, media representatives and the public. Additionally, the employee may provide technical assistance to others in promoting the department's programs and services to the public. The employee works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Departmental Preferences
Knowledge of multimedia production techniques, including skill in planning and directing program productions.
Skill in directing video, photo, and audio recordings
Skill in operating numerous types of audio-visual equipment
Skill in using Final Cut Pro, AVID, After Effects, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to plan, organize and oversee projects independently and to completion
Working Conditions
Primarily inside in a climate-controlled environment.
Occasional local or out-of-town travel.
Occasionally required to work beyond normal work hours.
Occasionally required to work outside in both fair and adverse weather conditions.
Note: Typical City employee working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, working hours vary (may require work to begin before 8:00 a.m. and/or end beyond 5:00 p.m., and/or may require work on weekends and holidays), and are subject to change, based on the duties and location of the position and the business needs of the assigned work unit/department.
