Outreach and Engagement Intern - OSU Hargis Leadership Institute

This position is a part of the InternOSU Program. Along with fulfilling standard job responsibilities, you will participate in OSU Career Services professional development activities

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills

  • Willingness to learn new things

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other graphic design software

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects


This position will report to the Administrative Associate, who organizes the events, finances, operations, outreach, and engagement of the institute.


  • Assist with key organizational tasks such as campus tabling coordination and execution, prospective student outreach, and brand management

  • Measure and report on marketing performance and data including, but not limited to, social media, tabling, and programs.  

  • Attend one-on-one supervisor meetings, to be scheduled within normal weekly hours

  • Research new methods to increase awareness of the institute according to the most recent media and engagement trends

  • Attend planned Leadership Institute events and strategize about attendance and outreach strategies

  • Respond to Leadership Institute emails in a timely and appropriate manner.  

  • Come prepared to learn!

Opportunities:This position will be involved in the growth and development of the Leadership Institute, and this may include opportunities to become certified in specific leadership courses, and attend national leadership conferences.

The Hargis Leadership Institute begins with people, specifically our students. Our mission is to develop life-giving leaders and further the field of leadership studies. Hargis Leadership Institute provides both co-curricular and curricular programs that help leaders develop their leadership, relationships, and skills. The ideal candidate for this role is creatively driven and ready to help us stay relevant and fresh on and off campus. The Outreach and Engagement Intern will prepare and present ideas weekly considering what is happening within the Institute. The individual in this position must have great communication skills for team collaboration and outreach to all interested parties. The Outreach and Engagement Intern will be a large contributor to how the Hargis Leadership Institute runs and improves. The potential for growth at Hargis Leadership Institute is endless, so prepare to have fun, get creative, and do some work!
