The Oklahoma Director of Communications & Marketing (DOCM) develops, manages, and implements communication, marketing and media strategies that facilitate comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives. They will tailor their efforts to facilitate Oklahoma program goals and needs within the larger organizational strategic framework. The OK DOCM works in close cooperation with the State Director and is a part of the Oklahoma leadership team.


Essential Functions


The OK DOCM manages all aspects of marketing, media, and communications strategies. They ensure that the creative work reflects the positioning, platform, and voice of TNC’s marketing objectives and meets program needs. They implement operational delivery of branding principles whether applied internally or outbound. The OK DOCM will work closely with various constituents including senior staff, field offices, department and division staff, vendors, and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of projects that contribute to a positive service relationship. They develop speeches, key messages and talking points, as needed. They actively identify target audiences and cultivate media contacts. They develop and foster relations with key stakeholders and media contacts and manage the dissemination of media information. They provide consultation, media training, coaching, and talking points to persons serving as spokesperson(s) and may serve as a spokesperson themselves. The OK DOCM will coordinate and manage assigned budgets for the Oklahoma program and oversee the day-to-day tasks of the program.


Responsibilities And Scope

  • Manage and serve as team lead for Oklahoma communications and marketing department and assigned projects.

  • Supervise professional and/or administrative staff.

  • Manage assigned budget, evaluate results, and develop recommendations for corrective strategies as needed.

  • Responsibility and accountability for meeting strategic program goals and objectives.

  • Resolves complex issues independently within program area.

  • Opportunity to act independently within program goals.

  • Work across teams to develop and implement strategies and campaigns to raise awareness and inspire action.

  • Able to work remotely, travel statewide and work flexible hours including nights and weekends, as needed.

  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
