Marketing & Communications Intern - American Black Hereford Association

The American Black Hereford Association (ABHA) is currently seeking qualified individuals to join the Marketing & Communications team through the ABHA Internship Program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and energetic team with the primary goal of enhancing the ABHA message.


Here at the ABHA, our internships are all about meeting people in the industry and getting hands-on experience. The Marketing & Communications Intern will serve as a member of the ABHA Marketing & Communications Team and will assist with all aspects of Association communication, helping to promote the Association through marketing materials, website information and updates, social media posts, and through Association publications.


We are looking for candidates who can work in a fast-paced environment, have an outgoing personality, can think on their feet, and work well under deadlines. Must have strong written and oral communication skills plus a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Bonus skills include familiarity with Adobe Design, and Tik Tok.


This position is home office based (virtual).


Position Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning of ABHA publications including The American Black Hereford by developing story ideas, edit content, coordinate advertising sales, and work with graphic designer to produce final product.

  • Assist with the development of a cohesive communications and member education strategy across all print and digital communications.

  • Write a variety of content to support communications and marketing efforts, including enewsletter, member education materials, and press releases.

  • Assist marketing team in development of national advertising campaign.

  • Assist with the management of and updating the ABHA website and other social media platforms.

  • Other job duties as assigned as assigned by the ABHA Communications Coordinator and Executive Director.


Education

College student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, animal science or related field.


Experience

At least 2 years communications experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. Previous experience with publication design, preferred. Proficient in social media and email program and web-based email blast program, preferred. Agriculture background and/or work experience.


Requirements

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills with an ability to work in a team environment and independently.

  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.

  • Computer skills including proficient in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Must be reliable and a self-starter.

The American Black Hereford Association is one of the fastest growing beef cattle breed associations in the US. The ABHA was formed in 1994 dedicated to recording and promoting Black Hereford cattle, while providing programs and services for its members and their customers to promote the Black Hereford breed and support education, youth, and research.


Our mission is to grow the demand for the American Black Hereford genetics by delivering the highest quality and most efficient services to members and other progressive cattlemen in the areas of breed registry, genetic improvement, and education.
