Statement of the Job:
The Marketing and Communications Director provides leadership for the team of University of Maine Cooperative Extension staff responsible for the marketing and communications for UMaine Cooperative Extension. This full-time position will provide strategic direction for UMaine Extension marketing and communication efforts, serve as the supervisor of the UMaine Extension Communications and Marketing Team and develop and implements effective marketing strategies for UMaine Extension. The successful candidate will also be asked to assist with related duties that are deemed appropriate to accomplish the outreach mission of UMaine Extension. Typical hiring range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and approximately five years of relevant experience.
Organizational and customer marketing knowledge and experience and demonstrated success
Marketing and communications knowledge, experience and demonstrated success
Knowledge of University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Land Grant universities
Prior experience in higher education or nonprofits marketing and communication design and deployment
Effective oral, written and electronic communication skills
Proficiency with video production and editing.
Independent work skills and multiple task management skills in an autonomous work environment as well as teamwork skills and ability to achieve and document measurable results
Demonstrated leadership, management, organizational, and facilitation skills, including strict attention to work project details and conflict management skills
Demonstrated positive supervisory experience
Ability to travel both in and out-of-state normally requiring a valid driver's license
Ability to occasionally lift 30 to 50 pounds
MS in Communications (or closely related field) with at least two years of experience
Fluency in MS Office and Google Suite, Salesforce (or similar database), MailChimp (or similar email client) and social media platforms
Experience with customer relationship management tools
Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize and work within deadlines.
Ability to be professional and able to communicate information accurately and effectively.
Ability to display independent judgment, initiative and sound decision making.
