Responsible for prospecting, attaining, retaining and servicing AFIA member companies while setting an organization-wide example of member service. Expected to establish solid prospecting and retention behaviors leading to goal attainment as defined by annual new member acquisition and retention objectives.
Provide proactive leadership in the focus, design and implementation of the association membership program for all segments of membership.
Develop a prioritized set of industry segment objectives for membership growth, plans for meeting these objectives and effectively implement this plan.
Execute sales process and outreach to attain new association members in order to meet association goals.
Develop and execute a marketing plan that effectively conveys the “member value” of AFIA to its members and key external audiences and assist in development of promotional materials.
Attend industry events and conferences to meet prospects and engage with current members.
Manage the Board Membership and Engagement Advisory Team (BMEAT).
Membership Retention & Engagement
Develop and continuously improve a system of involving members in the association, and retaining them through recognition of the membership value.
Manage engagement score in member profile in AMS; collaborate with the AFIA team on a plan to encourage involvement of members with low engagement scores.
Conduct exit interviews with all members not renewing membership to identify and attempt to resolve any issues, and learn how we might improve our membership program. • Manage the implementation of new member to member program.
Manage staff courtesy call monthly program.
Conduct association member review calls/visits 90 days after joining.
Use all available resources to enhance membership experience to secure retention.
Manage membership dues renewal process with the Membership and Database Specialist.
Member Information Updating and Maintenance
Work with Membership and Database Specialist to assure membership database has most up-to-date member contact information.
Assure all new member prospects are added to the membership database.
Lead efforts to preserve and promote a culture of service to members throughout AFIA, integrate membership activities into all aspects of AFIA’s work, and advocate that AFIA’s annual goals, services, and programs reflect AFIA’s commitment to understanding and increasing member value.
Respond to inquiries from current and prospective members and track results.
Contribute to the development of the annual budget and take accountability for managing membership dues income.
Knowledge and Experience
This position requires excellent follow through and time management skills; solid sales behaviors and knowledge of association practices are essential.
BS in agribusiness or related degree
Three or more years of experience in feed industry sales or marketing and business profitability management experience is desired
Proven dynamic and creative leadership performance
Demonstrated experience in association management software (or customer relationship management systems); ideally with ACGI’s Association Anywhere
Strong planning and organization skills for the management of multi-tasks
Travel up to 40-60%
Sound writing and public speaking skills
Proficient computer, software and Internet knowledge and experience
Ideally based in Washington, DC area, with in-office approximately 2-3 days per week; optional fully remote pending experience
