Description

The Livestock Show Event Intern- Summer and Fall, will assist the Livestock Event Manager and livestock team, in preparation for the 124th American Royal Livestock Show, October 4-22, 2023. The main responsibilities for this position involve assisting with the livestock office preparation for the event and could lead to a season internship during the weeks of the event. This is a paid, seasonal position. The intern position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. This role will be 40 hours most weeks and will require overtime during the Livestock Show.


Dates Desired

Candidates Graduating May/June 2023:

  • In Person: June 4/12 through October 27


Candidates returning to classes Fall 2023 Semester:

  • In Person: June 4/12- August 11/18

  • Remote: August 14/21- September 29

  • In Person: October 2-22

  • Remote: October 23-27

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with DNA order processing, data entry, filing, and organization

  • Livestock Show Data Entry

  • Proof and sort awards

  • Prepare Livestock Show results

  • Assist Livestock team with day of show demands

  • General exhibitor service including telephone calls and emails about the show

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Pursuing higher education in some form (four-year degree, technical education, etc.)

  • Agricultural background and/or livestock knowledge preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of any show entry processing systems (ShoWorks, etc.) desired

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours, as well as some overtime hours during events

  • Ability to complete occasional physical tasks such as lifting and carrying required
