Lead Writer – Texas Tech Office of Advancement

Lubbock, TX • Full-Time • Bachelor's Degree Required

Position Description Responsible for writing grant/technical/proposals assigned by the Administration and Faculty. These proposals, requesting contributions, are submitted to individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities. Responsibilities include assignments from, as well as, coordinating the efforts of faculty and staff to produce high-quality grant proposals.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Write or assist with news releases on donors and gifts, including interviews and acquiring images or scheduling photo shoots.

  • Design and produce clear, engaging and meaningful content, to include but not limited to talking points, stories, power points, brochures and correspondence items.

  • Develop content and assist with the execution of written solicitations in coordination with development professionals and university leadership.

  • Research and identify opportunities to enhance the University Advancement communications and marketing outreach to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Review and edit written communications as needed from colleagues across the university.

  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of templates for development professionals to use in fundraising efforts.

  • Ensure consistency in the branding and messaging of written communication materials.

  • Adhere to the priorities, timelines and deadlines established.

  • Assist with other fundraising projects as needed.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field. Six years experience in proposal/technical writing. Education and experience can exchange on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies and an understanding of branding.
