BASIC FUNCTION:
The Graphic Designer maintains the integrity of the visual representation of the Terrain brand. She/he works closely with the rest of the Terrain team of ag economists, analysts and marketing communications professionals, as well as the marketing teams of partner Farm Credit Associations, to create and advise on visual concepts that turn stats, data and information into captivating, interesting and engaging content that resonates with an audience. Target audiences include U.S. agricultural producers, Farm Credit Association employees, agribusiness professionals and trade media. The employee will executive production design and some creative design for report materials, presentations, social media graphics, website graphics, and more. She/he has primary responsibility for maintaining the digital asset library of Terrain visual assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for the visual style of multi-channel (Print/Digital) design solutions for the Terrain team of economists and industry analysts. The specific solutions could include report layouts, infographics, PowerPoint presentations, social media graphics, and more.
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders on how best to convert vast amounts of data and knowledge into captivating visuals that resonate with Farm Credit customers and U.S. Agricultural Producers.
Help research new tools, formats and visual channels to effectively communicate about Terrain’s research and knowledge in a way that informs, educates and captivates our target audiences in the agricultural community.
Evolve and guard the visual language of the Terrain brand
Use brand voice when asked to write copy
Responsible for the storage of creative and design assets and materials in the digital asset management platform shared between Terrain and partner Farm Credit Association, American AgCredit
Edit photography as needed
Selecting photography appropriate to the agricultural sector, geography and topic
Approve and/or purchase stock photography as needed
Ability to actively participate in cross-functional teams
May be asked to assist with other marketing and communications functions for the team as needed, including loading new content to the brand’s website, work with third party vendors to ensure proper production of printed collateral and other branded items, etc.
LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Reports to the Research and Engagement Analytics Leader.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
5+ years in Marketing/Graphic Design
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design or related art or marketing degree
Proficient in: Adobe Creative Cloud: Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
Proficient in Asana
Experience in graphic design, photo editing, digital asset management
Experience using Flourish or similar visual data storytelling technology
Experience in animation/motion graphics is a plus
Experience in WordPress is a plus
Experience creating design according to established brand standards
Fluent in both Mac and PC
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Travel required.

These roles and job functions can be done remotely, while maintaining our strong commitment to customer service and our business goals. Employees are welcome to come to an office to work if needed, and some travel for team meetings will be required.
