Washington, DC • Full-Time • Bachelor's Degree Required Overview Farm Journal Foundation is seeking an individual to join our team as an Events Manager, reporting to our Communications Director and working closely with our Government Affairs and Strategic Partnership teams. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a range of events, including policy briefings and meetings on Capitol Hill, in-state events with members of Congress, virtual and in-person panels with agricultural industry leaders, and side events at global venues such as COP28 and the World Food Prize. This work will also involve researching, coordinating, and booking speaking engagements for our farmers and senior staff, and monitoring and evaluation so that we can track the impact of our work. For this role, we are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual who can work independently and think strategically. A background in events management, communications or journalism, as well as demonstrated interest in agriculture, food systems, environmental issues, and/or government policy, is a plus. This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in the U.S. Some travel within the U.S. will be required. Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and execute various events hosted by Farm Journal Foundation, including brainstorming event topics, researching and booking speakers and venues, creating promotional materials, building invite lists, managing on-site logistics, and overseeing post-event follow up.
Handle all technical and behind-the-scenes aspects for virtual events, including running Zoom and YouTube Live.
Research and book speaking opportunities for farmers and senior staff at outside conferences and industry events.
Collaborate with the team to develop messaging on various agricultural issues and talking points for specific events.
Support impact monitoring and evaluation by logging speaking engagements, media coverage, social media statistics, and policymaker engagement.
Support logistics and planning for farmer meetings in Washington, D.C.
Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and approximately 2-5 years of experience in events management or working in communications, government relations, project management, or journalism.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects.
Strong communications and writing skills, including an ability to relay complex ideas to different audiences.
Technical experience working with various communications and work management software, such as Zoom, Microsoft Outlook and Teams, Constant Contact, Wix, Sprout Social, Quorum, and Monday.com.
Technical experience or interest in working with social media in a professional capacity, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube Live.
Ability to take basic photographs, or willingness to learn, at Foundation events.
