Description
The Event Coordinator will work in all areas of events at the American Royal including but not limited to the World Series of Barbecue, Rodeo, Livestock Show, Equine, and Education Events. Additionally, the Event Coordinator will assist and/or oversee other special events at the American Royal outside of the competitive events.
Reports To
The Event Coordinator will report to the Director of Education.
Desired Experience
The individual will have experience in events and/or contests, as well as in operations, managing volunteers, and an ability to learn and manage registration and ticketing systems. The ideal candidate will be goal-oriented, self-motivated, and very well organized with the ability to work independently. As well as collaborate with the team members, partners and volunteers to achieve desired outcomes. Individual must be flexible in day-to-day duties, detail-oriented, possesses good communication and writing skills and manage their time effectively.
Event Responsibilities
The attached list will outline job functions, roles and responsibilities for Event Coordinators. This list and reporting structure will be reviewed annually. This role will also perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Agricultural background preferred
Ability to work overtime as required
Education Events
Development and assistance with a Learn to Ride for Free program, Ag Stem Camp, and Off-Site Field Trips.
Assistance with new education programs and hosted group tour nights at events
Example: AFA Animal Institute Tour, Girl Scout Night at Quarter Horse Show, FFA Night at the Rodeo, etc.
Equine Events
Assistance with Hunter/Jumper Show, Royal Showcase Youth and Open Horse Show, Cutting Horse Show, Quarter Horse Show, UPHA/American Royal National Championships Horse Show, and Arabian and Open Breed Horse Show
Hospitality- volunteers, officials, judges, exhibitors
