Position Description Under general supervision, Education and Information Officers research issues of concern to the agency and the relevant target population; develop, coordinate and/or present educational programs; review, revise and monitor courses of instruction to reflect current marketplace and applicable law; audit instructor presentations to ensure quality instruction is provided in accordance with program requirements; facilitate communication among the target population and federal and State agencies; develop media releases, newsletters and informational brochures This is an Education & Information Officer position located in the Sparks office of the Department of Agriculture and works as part of a management team to support the protection and promotion of the agricultural industry in the State of Nevada. The incumbent in this position will develop, coordinate, and present educational programs and projects involving the agricultural industry; perform statistical research and analysis to determine training and education program needs of the community as it relates to the global trade and economic development and food/agricultural industry; and provide information and technical assistance to the public, other governmental agencies, and department staff on agriculture education.
The incumbent will work directly with wide range of economic entities on local, state, and federal levels, develop biannual economic analysis and quarterly trade reports, develop needs assessments, surveys, and evaluations to determine additional data collection needed; consolidate economic data with state collected data by this position. The incumbent will assist all divisions on regulatory notices and business impact surveys to public; conduct frequent outreach and public presentations to the Nevada food and agriculture industry; ensure all information needed to compare the agriculture industry year to year and emerging agriculture markets and opportunities are researched and provided for use by the Nevada citizenry to assist in making good agriculture business decisions, help target emerging sectors, encourage new investment, and identify workforce training needs. Candidates should attach a writing sample that includes statistical analysis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an area of specialization relevant to the agency to which assigned and two years of professional experience which included responsibilities for researching, writing, instructing, and presenting informational and educational material; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
