Editor – Wyoming Livestock Roundup


Casper, WY • Full-Time • Bachelor's Degree Required The editor of the Roundup helps with the weekly aspects of putting together editorial content for each paper, as well as maintaining and updating the website at wylr.net and our social media sites on a regular basis.


Those tasks include:

  • Interviewing, writing, photographing and editing articles for the regular weekly, as well as special editions.

  • Helping to generate article ideas and develop the article list for upcoming weekly and special editions.

  • Regularly traveling for meetings, events, conferences and interviews around the state.

  • Updating the website several times weekly to include the latest edition of the paper, newsletter, calendar, etc.

  • Generating new content for the website and Roundup Facebook page.

  • Helping send the paper to press, including proofing and laying out last-minute ads and market reports.

  • Filling in for managing editor when they’re out of the office.

  • Being alert for and helping to find new advertising opportunities.

  • Keeping regular office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to assist in regular office duties, including answering the phones and customer service


The editor must:

  • Meet weekly and special edition deadlines.

  • Have a working knowledge of writing in a news format using AP style.

  • Pay great attention to detail when editing and proofreading.

  • Relate to all types of people, and interview contacts by phone and in person.

  • Be able to multi-task and work under pressure during busy times of the week and year.

  • Be familiar with Wyoming agriculture and have an interest in agricultural current affairs.

  • Work with web designer to learn how to upload items, troubleshoot and add new things to the website.

  • Put in extra hours at certain busy times of the year.


Ideal candidates would also:

  • Have a thorough understanding of Wyoming agriculture’s custom and culture.

  • Be experienced in Photoshop, InDesign and Mac operating systems.

  • Have experience developing and maintaining websites.

  • Know AP style.
