The editing intern, being driven, attentive to detail, and ready to make real differences in the real world, brings an extra set of eyes and critical thinking to making project reports, proposals, webpages, and other written materials match the global standards of IFDC Communications.
The responsibilities and duties include (but are not limited to):
Proofreading technical/progress reports and other material for grammar, spelling, and proper word choice
Reviewing IFDC documents and website content to ensure clarity and readability
Editing information for use on the IFDC website
Other projects as directed
Required Skills:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of proper grammar and writing techniques (Mostly AP Style)
Prior experience in scholarly/scientific/technical writing
Strong editing skills
Advanced abilities in Microsoft Word, including:
Tracked Changes
Formatting/Using Templates
Building/Editing Charts, Graphs, and Tables
Interest in technical editing
Positive attitude, flexibility, exceptional work ethic, and a problem solving mentality
Applicants should have high attention to detail; be able to work as part of a team, but also be able to perform tasks independently; possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
Other Requirements:
Preferably current undergraduate juniors or seniors, or recent graduates in or have experience in professional writing, technical communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising, social media or a related field
Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5 overall with at least a 2.75 in a related major
Must be able to make a semester commitment of 20 hrs/week (negotiable)
