The Office of the Secretary of Energy & Environment (OSEE) focuses on development of strong energy and environmental policy that benefits Oklahomans through active engagement of stakeholders.
Job Description
To serve as a liaison and representative for OSEE to and constituents to successfully fulfilling the office’s public obligations by providing support services in the areas of administration, communications regarding social media and media relations, research, and public relations.
Necessary Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Office and personnel management
Effective written and oral communication skills
Word processing skills necessary to work with speed and accuracy
Knowledge of computer chart, graph, and table formatting
Familiarity with Oklahoma legislative, administrative, and judicial systems
Ability to research and analyze relevant constituent issues, to track legislation and prepare briefings and materials
Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately and efficiently under time constraints
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively
Ability to exercise professional judgment and maintain confidentiality
Typical Assignments (Tasks may vary depending on the needs of OSEE)
Manage constituent inquiries and casework
Facilitate and coordinate communication between the OSEE, legislators, state officials, staff, agency personnel, stakeholders and constituents in the development and advancement of legislation.
Track advancement of bills through the legislative process.
Identify and monitor specific issues
Public Relations
Represent the office at legislative and community events.
Communicating and working with public media and social media.
Work Experience
The ideal candidate has a minimum three years of experience in government affairs, communications; combination of experience and education considered. Candidate will also possess proven writing, communication, and problem-solving skills; experience and knowledge of the legislative process and policy development; self-directed with ability to respond to changing priorities and handle sensitive information.
