Director of Internal Communications - Oil & Gas Schnake Turnbo Frank

We are conducting an executive search for the next Director of Internal Communications for Williams Cos. This Director will report directly to the Vice President, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility and will be responsible for developing and executing an effective internal communications strategy that enables the company to achieve enterprise objectives. This role also will be responsible for coordinating with the brand and external communications teams to ensure cohesive communications strategies for all key stakeholders and for creating and executing a comprehensive executive engagement strategy. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced and passionate communications professional, who has a successful track record translating business priorities and company strategy into an integrated and unified internal communications plan, as well as excelling in the execution of the plan. Role requires ability to perform at an accelerated pace and skillfully anticipate the needs of senior leadership. This individual will be advisor to senior leaders so will require supreme professionalism and executive presence. Individual must be able to write thoughtfully and intelligently on highly complex issues. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and lead a high-impact internal communications function, providing expertise and advise to senior leadership and key business partners

  • Execute multi-faceted and successful strategies for internal campaigns and programs that strengthen the Williams brand and champions our mission and values

  • Ensure internal communications foster and support the desired understanding and behaviors among employees to drive business success

  • Identify internal engagement opportunities for CEO and other executives that builds leadership visibility and credibility within the organization

  • Serve as communications leader for major change management initiatives, providing communications counsel, planning and oversight

  • Engage closely with senior leaders and their assistants to build trust and execute successful internal communications strategy

  • Partner closely with Communications teammates to ensure consistent messaging and promotion across variety of internal/external platforms

  • Proactively seek new methods, tools and channels to communicate, as well as innovative ways to more effectively use existing methods, tools and channels. Foster the development of advanced functional expertise among the Internal Communications team.

REQUIREMENTS Education & related work experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or similar combination education and work experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of communications leadership experience, including demonstrated experience in employee, change management and leadership communications

  • Preferred: Strong experience communicating with C-level executives and dedicated experience in executive communications                                           

  • Experience with intranet design platforms and other internal facing communications technologies

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

  • Required: Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications program

  • Ability to perform at an accelerated pace and skillfully anticipate the needs of senior leadership

  • Superior collaboration skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs

  • Expertise in communications concepts, practices, strategies and tactics based on understanding of key audiences and corporate objectives

  • Proven relationship-building skills at all levels within an organization

  • Self-starter with excellent follow-through

  • Ability to hold self and others accountable for results

  • Comfort level working under tight deadlines with the ability to gather information and present recommendations to executives
