REPORTS TO: This position reports directly to the President & CEO and works closely with the Director of Marketing to ensure the smooth operation of the corporation.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing and measuring the success of the strategic communications strategies promoting Stillwater events, attractions, and hospitality industry businesses to visitors and Stillwater residents; planning, implementation, and reviewing of internal and external communication projects; and day-to-day tasks that enhance the image of Visit Stillwater and the Stillwater community.
This position coordinates and/or manages all aspects of website, social media platforms, video, e-newsletters, direct mail campaigns, blogs, and photo library; works closely and proactively with members of the media internal and external to Stillwater; and coordinates and advocates for an open line of communication among local hospitality industry partners to ensure a visitor-friendly environment.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY
Coordinate, implement, manage, and measure activities with the Director of Marketing to include: Marketing, Advertising, Public relations, Communications, Online and social media (serve as the social media voice of Visit Stillwater), Website development
Develop and implement an annual strategic marketing and communications plan, with a strong focus on digital outlets and opportunities.
Create and implement digital and print marketing/advertising campaigns.
Strategically plan, develop, and implement marketing and communication plans
Monitor and measure specific performance objectives of each project and campaign with a strong focus on conversion metrics.
Track earned media and archive copies of articles, blogs, columns, etc.
Manage timelines and implementation of projects.
Work with the Visit Stillwater team to develop new ideas and concepts.
Maintain data relating to all marketing and communications efforts and submit reports as required.
KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Strengthen Stillwater’s image and visibility as a premier destination for meetings, events, sports, and leisure visitors.
Develop an annual marketing and communications plan to promote Stillwater events, attractions, and hospitality industry businesses to meeting and event coordinators, the traveling public, Stillwater residents, and media.
Develop, solicit, compile, and ensure editorial accuracy and partner inclusion in Visit Stillwater website, calendar of events, social media, e-Newsletter, and video productions.
Update and maintain the Visit Stillwater website including designing and coordinating local partnership sites and links to other pages.
Establish working relationships with media, solicit media coverage, develop media kits, write and edit copy, and issue news releases.
Collect, catalog, and negotiate terms for use of photography to be used for media relations purposes; hire photographers; take photographs; catalogue, reproduce, and distribute photography.
Assist with promotional materials, such as PowerPoint presentations.
Develop and coordinate ideas and projects to help continue the advancement of Visit Stillwater.
Assist in the planning and coordination of special events and projects and work to help educate and create local awareness of tourism. Attend special events, conventions, and meetings as needed to assist the Visit Stillwater team.
Manage communications efforts on a day-to-day basis and ensure efforts are strategically progressing and tracking through interoffice software capabilities.
Track communications efforts; produce communications activity reports through interoffice software capabilities and manual procedures.
Interpret data to compile in an easily understandable manner within semi-annual and annual reports.
Maintain a cohesive working relationship with all team members to ensure a unified and effective destination marketing effort.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and, participating in professional societies.
Write, edit, and create the layout for key communications and video production:
Website: VisitStillwater.org - Compile and maintain comprehensive onestop-shop for all there is to see and do in Stillwater.
Calendar of Events: Compile and maintain the most comprehensive interactive community calendar of events.
Social Media: @VisitStillwater - Coordinate the social media calendar to include daily reminders of events, the variety of hotel and dining options, unique retailers and attractions available, and Sweepstakes Giveaways.
Sweepstake Giveaways: Work with hospitality industry partners to secure, offer, and monitor pairs and family four-packs of tickets to local sports, theater, and music events.
Crowdriff & Photo Library: Manage visual content marketing software to garner the rights to unique images from social media posts by locals, visitors, and business partners.
Threshold 360° Images: Manage virtual tour software to create 360° virtual tours for a variety of communications, marketing, and sales channels.
Promo Video: Coordinate partners and write the script for monthly 60- second video spotlighting 7-8 events, attractions, and businesses shown on Tv-31, BancFirst TV, YouTube, digital ads, VisitStillwater.org, and @VisitStillwater.
eNewsletter: Create the monthly eNewsletter to include the promotional video, details about featured events and businesses, a reminder to FlySWO, and current Sweepstakes Giveaways.
Television: Work with the President & CEO who co-hosts the live daily show on weekday mornings and coordinates every guest appearance on KWEM Tv-31’s, “The Morning Edition”. Document guests through interoffice software capabilities
Radio: Work with the President & CEO who is a guest on live, local radio stations three mornings a week. Create and provide the radio calendar weekly to share upcoming events and leave with the radio personalities.
Blogs: Write at least 2 monthly blogs to direct residents and visitors to VisitStillwater.org to increase awareness of business partners and attendance at local events.
Event Submission to TravelOK.com, Oklahoma Living, and others: Submit the major events that would appeal to tourists to partner websites and publications in an effort to increase attendance.
KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Must be able to interact tactfully with the media, Board of Directors, stakeholders, clients, public, and other Visit Stillwater partners to represent the Visit Stillwater team and the Stillwater community professionally.
Ability to think strategically about communications activities.
Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with website content management, social media campaigns, and digital marketing a must.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or concerns through online and social media platforms.
Must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and creatively, both verbally and in writing.
High level of time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision to prioritize and complete tasks effectively.
Experience in coordinating and administering multi-projects simultaneously.
Ability to develop and write effective reports and business correspondence.

Understanding of hospitality/tourism/visitor development industry.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Four-year college degree in strategic communications, marketing, business, or four years’ work-related experience preferred.
Must possess mental acuity for attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be sufficiently articulate to make public speeches before large gatherings of people.
Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate in large, noisy areas, and use any telephone.
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Ability to travel.
Professional appearance.
Must be fluent in English.
Current, valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, and access to personal transportation.
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
